5 Family-Friendly Things To Do In Waterdown

There are few things we enjoy more than helping a family find the perfect community. While there’s no shortage of them in and around Hamilton, we’re especially fond of Waterdown. Along with its beautiful homes, great schools, and convenient amenities, this charming neighbourhood is full of potential kid-friendly fun. You just have to know where to look!

When you’re ready to explore Waterdown with the family, here are five fun places to start…

1) Head to Souptogo

As far as we’re concerned, Souptogo is one of the most unique attractions in the Waterdown area. This family farm, located on Parkside Drive, has a little something for everyone.

Barnyard animals, a corn maze, playground, and giant sandbox are just a few reasons to visit. This fall, you’ll discover a couple more—pumpkin picking and wagon rides. Don’t forget to buy some award-winning soup before you leave (it’s hard to go wrong with tomato florentine or mushroom meatball).

2) Visit Waterdown Memorial Park

When the weather is nice, grab the kids and head to Waterdown Memorial Park. Trust us, it’s more than just a pretty green space (though the mature trees are certainly nice to look at).

At this impressive park, you’ll find three baseball diamonds, a splash pad with sprinklers, and a state-of-the-art skatepark, among other fun features. When your little ones just need to get rid of some excess energy, the playground is the perfect place for them to climb, swing, slide, and explore.

3) Check out Great Falls

This natural wonder also goes by Smokey Hollow, Grindstone, and Great Falls. While it has many names, there’s just one reason to check it out. Quite simply, it’s magnificent!

This ribbon waterfall, powered by the Grindstone Creek, is a sight to behold. It’s also surrounded by part of the beautiful Bruce Trail, which makes for an incredible natural setting. Best of all, experiencing its beauty from the designated viewing platform (which is located off Mill Street) is an activity the whole family can enjoy!

4) Bowl at Waterdown Lanes

If you’re looking to do something a little different, grab the kids and head out to Waterdown Lanes. This family-friendly hotspot offers glow-in-the-dark bowling, an arcade, and plenty of snacks!

Situated on Hamilton Street North, Waterdown Lanes also has a youth league—which means your kids can continue enjoying the sport if they’re fans. It’s a fun way for children and teens to get active, stay social, and have plenty of fun.

5) Enjoy local cuisine

What better way to enjoy time with the family than over a great meal? Luckily for those who call Waterdown home, there’s no shortage of places to do just that.

Our favourite local options include Mill Street & 5 American House (where you’ll find incredible comfort food). There’s no need to get a sitter to check out these kid-friendly eateries!
