That’s why we put together this guide to the best modern home furniture and decor stores in the Burlington, Hamilton, and Waterdown regions here. Take a look through the list below, then check out what they have to offer for yourself.
Mobilia
The first spot on our list has to be Mobilia — a comparatively affordable modern home furniture lover’s heaven. Although Mobilia has quite a few locations across Ontario, the store closest to us is located at 1510 N Service Road in Burlington.
Founded in Montreal in 1966, Mobilia is a proudly Canadian modern home furniture and decor organization with great taste, design, and service. They supply quality, mid-century modern-influence pieces at very palatable prices. They also offer an appointment-only white glove home delivery service and accept returns “no questions asked” within their 15-day return period.
Their regular opening hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. during weekdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m on weekends, however, they are currently restricted to pick-ups only due to government-mandated COVID-19 closures.
EQ3
With 14 stores across Canada and now five stores in the U.S., it’ll come as no surprise if you’ve heard of EQ3 before. However, if you haven’t taken the time to check out their products yet, you’re in for some fun.
While their headquarters are in Winnipeg, EQ3 has four modern home furniture and decor stores in Ontario, including one in Burlington. Situated at 1510 Unit C North Service Road, their Burlington location is conveniently located within the popular Power Center area.
Until the government restrictions on in-store shopping are lifted, however, you, unfortunately, can’t pay them a visit for the time being. When those restrictions are lifted though, stop by from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays — or, look through their current online catalogue and order a piece for curbside pick-up.
JYSK
Originally founded in Denmark — the Mecca of mid-century modern home furniture — JYSK has been around since 1979, though only opened their first store in Canada in 1996. Today, JYSK has 61 locations across the country, including one in Hamilton.
Influenced heavily by classic Scandinavian design, JYSK is a modern home furniture and decor store that offers everything you’d need to fill your home with great design. From bedroom, living room, dining room furniture to office essentials, JYSK really is a one-stop-shop for modern home furniture and decor.
Check out JYSK’s Hamilton location at 1550 Upper James Street Unit 17C when they are able to re-open their doors to the public again.
Structube
Another mid-century modern home furniture and decor store that was born in the ‘70s, Structube is now a household name across all well-styled modern homes in Canada. What started as an individual modern home furniture boutique in Montreal in 1974 is now a Canada-wide furniture chain with over 70 locations and 650 employees across the country — and it’s easy to see why.
When it comes to value for money, Structube is nearly untouchable. Their chic modern designs and quality pieces sell for mind-bogglingly low prices, which has been their claim to fame for quite some time now. In fact, Structube is one of the leading modern home furniture and decor companies in all of Canada.
